This hen, I'm assuming is a feather duster, is huge. Not only has it got the feather to die for but it has a massive 70 gram frame at 40 days old.

I have let the parents go for a second round and they are currently on 2 eggs.
Curious about letting the parents "go for a second round". I find it difficult (metaphysically speaking) to stop a hen from re-nesting. Yet I read over and over it is too draining for them. I too have let a hen go a second round....hoping a very diverse diet is a satisfactory supplement. I, of course, will remove the nest box and let the pair rest after this. But...how much is too much...if one can find quality homes for the chicks?
